All ISO standards are reviewed every five years to establish whether a revision is required to ensure it is still current and relevant for the marketplace. Business needs and expectations have changed significantly since the last major revision of ISO 9001 back in 2008. For instance the ever more demanding customers, the emergence of new technologies, increasingly more complex supply chains and a much greater awareness of the need for sustainable development initiatives.
